   3 Notes for anyone wanting to build Debian packages of VLC.

   5  - Default configuration is supposed to be latest unstable.

   7  - To build for a Debian woody system, first build a tarball using
   8    "make dist-woody".

  10  - Usually VLC will come with a copy of ffmpeg and faad2 in the extras/
  11    directory, because they are not yet available in Debian.

  13  - If there is no CVS directory in the root, debian/rules will assume a
  14    full build is requested and will clean ffmpeg and faad2.

  16  - VLC does not link with libdvdcss by default, thus it will not depend
  17    on the libdvdcss packages. To build packages that link against it,
  18    remove the --without-dvdcss flag in debian/rules.
